Very cool morning – 47 degrees in town and plenty of dew. We got going fairly quick with me out roading and the rest catching horses & loading puppy/derby dogs. I got 2 quick braces in and the dogs loved the cool weather.
• Midge, Erin, Lily & Cliff – while trying to load this crew up, midge got her roading harness clipped stuck onto one of her toes. We had a heck of a time getting it off but Bob got some clippers and we bent it back some. I was going to give her the morning off but she wanted to go and was absolutely fine. She had a great attitude and worked hard all the way. 28 min.
• Sorrel, Bandit, Robin & Hank - this crew was all business but not quite as fast as the 1st brqce. 30 min.
I got back to camp and we had the crew all loaded so we headed south to Triple Gates and ran to the north east.
Hills:
• Galt, Tequi, Dani & Striker - We cut the 4 of the loose and away they go with Galt stretching the whole team out to the front. Dani scented and knowed 3 chickens – somebody else hit a group of 5 then someone had 4 and then Tequi was seen in a high speed chase about ¼ mile away and moving with great speed. These pups had a ball with Galt the most consistent, Teaqui playful and erratic to start but a great finish, Dani with many excellent moves though not quite as much class on the ground but still 2nd best and Striker showing several good moves. Not a single dog was a slug- all great speed and hunt and a love of birds. 30 min.
• Bart, Rio & Libey – Bart had some decent moves and hunt, Rio a nice way of going and more range then the other two although I'm not convinced he knew why. Libey was not in a good move and spent most of her time barking at any dog that came near her and not much in the way of hunt or independence at this point. Overall it wasn't too bad for pups but for Derby dogs I would expect a bit more and these are all on the dividing line. 24 min.
My truck lock on the ignition didn't want to work properly so I took it to town and they tightened up the leakage and fixed my problem. Great service at the Ford Dealer and very nice people. It's a pleasure doing business with folks like this.
Linda went to town to wash clothes ( Long Pine) pump is fixed but tall grass makes it a paint to hang out cloths. When she got there there wasn't enough working jeans so she went to Basset.
Painters still working up north but should be moving in on Friday night. Bob has been up north helping them mow. We bred Clifford and Joy for the 2nd time tonight. Will try one more time on Saturday.
